The work we do adds value to the human and commercial assets of Westwood.
This added value benefits every resident of Westwood, their persons and their
property.
Completed Projects
- Real Estate Development (Added Value: $200,000. Volunteer Hours: 100+)
- Acquired and demolished the former Habig's property to make way for new
family-friendly, casual restaurant to locate on to property. Interim
parking lot. This project was guided from start to finish by Mark Minges.
- Private grant to cover cost of preliminary architectural drawings and
survey work.
- Private grant to work with consultant to design marketing strategy.
- Developed parking lot at Montana and Harrison, together with business district sign.
- Beautification (Added Value: $90,000. Volunteer Hours: 100+)
- Installed Westwood Gateway Sign with collaboration of Anchor
Properties. We also thank Mark Minges for his leadership with
Achor Properties, the developer of the Walgreen site.
- Installed new Flower Pots and Bus Benches.
- Installed New Business District Signage.
- Promotion (Added Value: $15,000) Thanks to Sara Sheets
- Fostered wireless access by acquiring Lily Pad near intersection of Montana and Harrison.
- Published Westwood Brochure.
- Created WestCURC Website.
- Conducted Westwood Alive Event, June 2004.
- Collaboration
- Ryan Park Improvements (Added Value: $500,000. Materials
Donation valued at $15,000, over 1100 hours of volunteer work (valued @ $10.00 per hour))
- In addition ATP donated the cost of five new tennis courts to the Cincinnati
Recreation Commission. The product of a community planning process, the
improvements included new lighting, a new shelter house, five new tennis
courts, more parking, and cleaning and grooming ½ acre of woods between
Ryan Park and Gamble School. Thanks to John Eby who managed all this
to completion.
- Donors included: Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Westwood-Cheviot Kiwanis Club,
Home Depot, Pavestone, Towne Properties Machine Group, Chris Bortz, Carl Linder,
ATP 2 "Safe and Clean" grants from the City
- Westwood Home Tour sponsored by Westwood Historical Society. WestCURC provided volunteer
time, in-kind contributions, and fundraising support to the Home Tour.
- Participation with Westwood-area Schools: Service on Local School Decision Making Committees,
Community Learning Center Planning Teams, and CLC Design Teams.
- WestCURC always seeks opportunities to collaborate with other neighborhood organizations
Future Projects

- Northern Business District Parking Lot
- Facilitate the sale and development of key NBD properties, including
the Former Beppo's Property, former Rondo's Property and Hyle
Mecklenborg Building.
- Facilitate the addition of two new businesses in the NBD
- Actively market the Westwood NBD to potentially expanding businesses.
- Beautification
- Continue to develop the Fountain at Town Hall: landscape plan ready, fundraising next
- Continue partnering with Westwood Civic Association to beautify the NBD with appropriate seasonal landscaping

- Complete and continuously update WestCURC's website
- Continue to partner with other Westwood groups to promote and market our neighborhood
